n+1 is one of my absolute favourite journals (that's saying a lot - they beat out the Paris Review for first place and I worship the Review!), so I was really excited to read this book this book they put out with Harper Collins: Diary of a Very Bad Year by Anonymous Hedge Fund Manager, editted by Keith Gessen. I was even more excited to have an excuse to buy it to review it for my nonfiction class! So that's what I'm working on now, as a form of procrastination against doing my nihilism paper. The BF's form of procrastination involves giant-chocolate-cake-baking. I like his method more.
Essentially, I'm going to start posting stuff I've written on here, because I don't like to re-post others' things much and I feel like all the stuff I get excited about is either class work or off my feed reader. I miss having time to read real books, see real people. Eventually I'd like to develop a kind of online portfolio of work, published or otherwise, but that will have to be done once I'm finished essays and such. Sometime before internship applications are due. Gessen -- need an intern??
